Everyday becomes more of a fight for not just Kentucky, but the United States as a whole. Everyday we see more and more of a need for ventilators (life saving devices for this virus) as the death toll continuously increases. Doctors are working both day and night to try and fight Covid-19, even with a severe lack of medical grade masks. This means that they must rewear these masks, often for hours at a time, which they would normally lose their jobs for. You may have seen photos of these heroes on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, the news, etc. This shows the severe shortage of medical supplies that many doctors have to face daily, putting their lives at risk. This is happening all over the country and poses a serious threat to states bordering Kentucky and Kentucky itself.
Together we can help doctors by: 1. Not buying medical grade facial masks, but instead normal everyday ones (or using bandanas or getting creative, etc.) The president recently declared that all citizens should wear face masks when in public, so be sure to wear yours and protect the others around. 2. STAYING HOME. This will help stop the spread and allow for hospitals to be able to combat this illness. 3. Don't go into a hospital unless you are seriously ill. Even if you have the symptoms, call your doctor or the coronavirus hotline: (800) 722-5725 & the website https://govstatus.egov.com/kycovid19 While it is unlikely that a teenager or child could die due to COVID-19, please think of all of the older people that you love and the other community members who suffer with respiratory illnesses that do have a higher chance of death due to this virus. Lets all take a moment and remember everyone that has lost the fight due to this horrible virus. That said, we are very lucky to be in the state that we are, one that was even declared as the best response to the coronavirus, thanks to our governor Andy Beshear. Remember to practice social distancing, and that we will get through this, we will get through this together! :) #togetherky #teamkentucky -Emily
